Chad Johnson charged with domestic violence

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Chad Johnson was arrested for a domestic violence incident Saturday night. He was accused to have head-butted his wife during an argument in front of their home outside Miami. Lozada was treated at a hospital for a cut to her forehead after the incident.

Johnson was held on Saturday night in Broward County Jail. He is charged with a simple battery, domestic violence which is a misdemeanor. Johnson's bond is set at $2500. He has been ordered not to have contact with his wife as part of the bond conditions. Johnson is expected to leave jail on Sunday morning.

Miami Dolphins team officials said that they are aware of the situation and are gathering relevant information. Johnson's agent Drew Rosenhaus declined to comment on the incident. Johnson signed up with Dolphins in June.

He married Evelyn Lozada last month on July 4, 2012. Johnson proposed to Lozada on November 16, 2010 and announced their engagement on February 9, 2012.
