I might have put Will Smith out of job had I acted, says footie Rio

July 21, 2011 - London

Rio Ferdinand has claimed that he could have been a better actor than Will Smith had he accepted the movie offers that came his way.

The 32-year-old Manchester United defender claimed that he did not want to put Oscar-nominated 'Bad Boys' star Smith, 42, "out of business".

The love-rat, who famously 'forgot' to attend a drugs test in 2003 and deservingly received an eight-month ban, boasted that he could have been a great actor had he been in movies but he snubbed the offers that he had received as he wanted to concentrate on his game.

"I've actually been offered movie roles. But I wouldn't even consider it until I retire," the Daily Star quoted him as saying.

"If I did I think Will Smith would be out of a job. And I wouldn't want to do that to his family," he added.
