Watson to play for Sydney Sixers in Oz Big Bash League

July 19, 2011 - Sydney

Sydney Sixers, a franchise in Australia's newly-announced the Big Bash Twenty20 League, has confirmed signing of all-rounder Shane Watson.

The Australian vice-captain boasts a superb Twenty20 record with a batting strike rate of 148.69 and a bowling economy rate of 7.65 per over.

Sydney Sixers General Manager Stuart Clark reckons that Watson will bring both experience and class to the team.

"Shane is a quality cricketer and we are delighted that he has chosen to join the Sixers. He will help provide the leadership that will teach our younger players what it takes to win," Fox Sports quoted Clark, as saying.

"He is a match-winner with both bat and ball, and a quality human being," he added.

Watson also plays for the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League.
