Villas-Boas slams Sky Sports pundit Neville over Luiz criticism

December 10, 2011 - London

Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has hit back at former Manchester United defender and Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville's comment that David Luiz plays like he is controlled by a 10-year-old on a PlayStation.

Villas-Boas branded the criticism during Sky's coverage of Chelsea's Premier League game against Liverpool last month as "ridiculous", and warned Neville to "be careful".

He also said that Neville should have more respect for Brazil's rich football history.

"You cannot approach a top Brazil central defender, saying he's commanded by a kid with a Playstation. This is ridiculous. This guy plays for the team [Brazil] with the most titles in the world. Be careful with what you're saying," The Telegraph quoted Villas-Boas, as saying.

"You have to agree. You cannot be a top English defender like Gary Neville has been - and this is fair, I can say this to him face-to-face with pleasure - but when you take the ridiculous route I have to defend," he added.
