Terry insists Chelsea is not too old to win to do the double

August 12, 2011 - London

Skipper John Terry has insisted that Chelsea are not too old to win the Premier League and Champions League double this season.

He believes the Blues' over-30s will be the key to their success.

The Sun quoted him, as saying: "I read a lot last year about us losing a number of experienced players. Then, when we didn't win the league, I read we were too old to win it. It's a Catch 22."

"I know there's this feeling players like myself, Lamps and Didier take our place in the team for granted. But it's the complete opposite. We are the ones, day in day out, who are digging in deep, making sure we are setting the example. When people say we've been here a long time and don't really care, it's the reverse," he added.

"We're stronger than last year and, if we play at our best consistently, stand a real chance," Terry said.
