Rapper Eminem could threaten Becks debut in Melbourne

November 28, 2011 - Melbourne

Soccer club Melbourne Victory is concerned over what the state of the Etihad Stadium surface will be after thousands of fans flood the venue to hear rapper Eminem.

What is more of a worry is that the event is taking place just days before a friendly with L.A. Galaxy, which has former England captain David Beckham in its squad.

The match will bring together former Premier League opponents Beckham and Harry Kewell, but insiders are not convinced either will play if the ground is not up to scratch.

The Herald Sun quoted Tribal Sports management, which has lured LA Galaxy to Victoria, as saying that the surface quality was not an issue.

More than 23,000 tickets have been snapped up for the match on December 6.
