Pak keen for hockey series with India: PHF official

April 13, 2011 - Lahore

Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) secretary general Mohammad Asif Bajwa has said the schedule of a Pakistan-India hockey series could be finalised soon.

"We are in touch with the Indian Hockey Federation for the revival of the series and hopefully all the necessary modalities in this regard will be sorted out in due course of time," The Daily Times quoted him, as saying.

Bajwa said the series could be played later this year or early next year.

He termed the revival of a bilateral hockey series as a step forward for strengthening hockey in the subcontinent.

The PHF secretary said if Pakistan and India play each other on regular basis, they can better their sagging fortunes in the game at the international level.

He said he was expecting to have further discussions on a Pakistan-India series on the sidelines of the Asian Hockey Federation meeting during in Malaysia next month.
