Over 75,000 fans expected in Boxing Day Test to bid adieu to Sachin, Dravid, Laxman

December 21, 2011 - Melbourne

Over 75,000 fans are expected to turn up during the Boxing Day Test to bid a likely farewell to Indian veterans Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman.

Melbourne Cricket Council visitors' passes for the event have already been sold out and Cricket Australia (CA) is advising fans to book ahead to avoid disappointment.

CA spokesperson Peter Young dispelled concerns over cricket fans leaving bookings to the last minute.

"Melbourne has got the biggest walk-up rate of any ground in the world. If you want to get good seats, then you should book ahead. They are running stronger than we had originally expected," The Age quoted Young, as saying.

"As far as Melbourne is concerned, the city seems to be in love with Test cricket. Cricket fans, however, may have to endure a wet start to the match with rain more than likely," he added.
