IPL: Gayle helps RCB thrash KKR by nine-wickets

Chris Gayle hit an unbeaten century as Bangalore Royal Challengers (RCB) thrashed Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by nine-wickets in their Indian Premier League encounter at Kolkata's Eden Gardens on Friday.

Gayle plundered a top-class 102 not out off just 55 balls, as Bangalore chased down a daunting target of 172 for victory with 11 balls to spare.

Gayle hammered seven sixes and 10 boundaries, and shared a devastating first-wicket partnership of 123 in 12 overs with Tillekeratne Dilshan (38 off 31 balls).

He later shared an unbeaten partnership with Virat Kohli who scored 30 not out off 23 balls.

Earlier, batting first after losing the toss, KKR had scored 171-5 in their 20 overs.

Yusuf Pathan top-scored with a quickfire 46 off 24 balls, which included three boundaries and three sixes.
