Haye protests Klitschko's referee choice for title unification fight

June 24, 2011 - London

WBA champion David Haye has protested over Chicago referee Genaro Rodriguez handling his title unification fight with Wladimir Klitschko in Hamburg.

Haye's team is worried because Rodriguez has officiated in four of WBO and IBF champion Klitschko's fights.

The British boxer has already conceded home advantage, ditched his own broadcaster and promoter - and given Klitschko choice of gloves and corner, The Sun reports.

Rodriguez was in charge when Klitschko stopped Derrick Jeffersen in two, halted Frans Botha in eight and KO'd Eddie Chambers in the 12th rounds.

The only Klitschko loss with Rodriguez in charge was Corrie Sanders' surprise two-round win eight years ago.
