June 3, 2011 - Melbourne

Cricket Australia (CA) has appointed former fast bowler Jason Gillespie as the assistant coach of the Australia A team for their Zimbabwe tour, which begins on June 25.

Gillespie will work under Australia A head coach Troy Cooley.

"This is a really good opportunity for me to learn more about coaching at this level from the likes of Troy Cooley," The Herald Sun quoted Gillespie, as saying.

The 36-year-old had earlier coached a domestic Zimbabwean team and was the bowling coach for Kings XI Punjab during the recent Indian Premier League (IPL).

Australia A will play a one-day tri-series involving Zimbabwe and South Africa A, before finishing with two four-day matches against Zimbabwe.
