Gilchrist asks Kings XI Punjab players to focus on remaining IPL matches

May 18, 2011 - Dharamsala

Kings XI Punjab skipper Adam Gilchrist, who scored a brilliant century against Royal Challengers Bangalore, has said that the players should not get carried away with success, but should work hard and remain focused on the rest of the Indian Premier League matches.

Aided by brilliant performance from Gilchrist, Kings XI Punjab stunned Royal Challengers Bangalore by 111 runs in the IPL at Dharamsala in Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday.

"This tournament can go up and down that as in late the team tried to kick the atmosphere brilliant and not flat because you can really feel that you have been crushed and the emotions can go really to a low level," said Adam Gilchrist.

Incidentally, Gilchrist was declared the Man of Match for his outstanding century of 106 runs.

Virat Kohli, captain of the Royal Challengers Bangalore, said that his side was unperturbed after the loss and vowed for a better performance in the rest of the tournament.

"Yeah, it happens in cricket. You can't score everyday. You can't just go out there and score a 50 or a hundred every day. It's nothing to worry about. I mean, we are professional cricketers, we look into it, we learn from our mistakes and we will move forward. It's not that ... and me have not contributed at all in this tournament.

"We have played important roles in important matches. And after Chris has come in the he has just taken away the responsibility," said Virat Kohli.

The star batsman of Royal Challengers, West Indian Chris Gayle after facing seven dot balls, was out for a duck in the second over.

Despite this defeat, the Royal Challengers Bangalore still figures among the top four in the overall points table.
