Cricket Australia review to shape new injury management procedures

December 7, 2011 - Sydney

Cricket Australia (CA) is reportedly undergoing a review to shape new injury management procedures.

The review, recommended by the Don Argus report, was launched several weeks ago and is being headed by CA's sports science and sports medicine manager Peter Blanch.

A report by Blanch, who is based at the Centre of Excellence in Brisbane, is however not due to be completed until the new year, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.

It comes at a point when Australian cricket is undergoing one of its worst injury crises in recent times.

Shane Watson, Shaun Marsh, Ryan Harris and Mitchell Johnson were earlier ruled out of the two-Test series against New Zealand due to injuries.

Watson has been struggling with a hamstring injury, Marsh has a back injury, Harris has a hip injury and Johnson had injured big toe.

A big question mark also remains over fast bowler Pat Cummins, who is nursing a heel complaint.
