Capello 'keeps himself distant' from England stars: Crouch

June 8, 2011 - London

England striker Peter Crouch has opened his heart over manager Fabio Capello's decision to exclude him from the squad for their Euro 2012 qualifier against Switzerland.

Crouch revealed that Capello never explained why he was not even on the bench for last Saturday's 2-2 draw at Wembley.

"If I'm left out at Tottenham, Harry Redknapp will tell me why I'm not playing and let me know where I stand. Capello keeps himself distant," The Sun quoted Crouch, as saying.

"He's not the sort of manager who puts an arm around his players. But I'll continue to play for my country for as long as I can, regardless of who the manager is," he added.

Crouch has scored 22 times in 42 appearances for England, but his form has never convinced Capello.

The 30-year-old has started in just five of 37 England games under Capello.

He now hopes to be given a run-out in the friendly against Holland in August.
