Button refuses to be downbeat despite a disappointing McLaren season

June 11, 2011 - London

McLaren Formula One driver Jenson Button insists that the championship title is not yet out of his reach, despite Red Bull rival Sebastian Vettel's spectacular season so far.

Button goes into Sunday's Canadian Grand Prix fourth in the standings. He trails Vettel, who has won five out of six races, by 67 points.

"Sebastian is doing a great job and it is a situation I have been in before. Sometimes even if you do something wrong you still win. It does come to an end after a while, but they are going to be very difficult to beat all season," The Sun quoted Button, as saying.

"It's a massive points difference, but it was for me in 2009 and still it was near the end of the season before I clinched the title."

"It's definitely not over, but it's a lot more difficult for us because of the points he has. We can still fight and this circuit is the perfect place to have one over on them," he added.

McLaren boasts a strong recent record in Montreal - Hamilton winning on two of last three visits and leading a 1-2 for the team last year.
