Broad promises to show 'clarity and passion' during stint as T20 skipper

June 25, 2011 - London

England's newly appointed Twenty20 captain Stuart Broad has promised to show clarity and passion during his stint.

Broad will lead the English side for the first time as captain when they meet Srilanka in Bristol today.

"I always have a mindset when I walk on to the pitch of trying to think like a captain. I feel 100 per cent ready to lead the side in what is going to be a quick and exciting game," Broad said.

"As a bowler you are always considering your field placements and what kind of balls you're going to be bowling. I have been fortunate to play under the likes of Michael Vaughan, Andrew Strauss and Paul Collingwood, so I have learnt from some brilliant captains" he added.

Broad has already sought advice prior to the match, having spoken with Paul Collingwood, the outgoing captain.

"Paul said don't be afraid to take time out of the game to chat to your bowlers and make sure your ideas and tactics are clear," Broad said.

"I am certainly not going to lose my passion for the game. Now I am captain I am going to be thinking about a lot of things, when I get the ball in my hand, is that I don't change too much" he added.
