Indian cricketers display new kit ahead of Oz series

Members of the Indian cricket team displayed their new one-day kit here on Wednesday ahead of the ODI series to be played against Australia.

Chandigarh/Mohali, Sep. 29 : Members of the Indian cricket team displayed their new one-day kit here on Wednesday ahead of the ODI series to be played against Australia.

The new kit has been designed keeping in mind the playing conditions such as excessive perspiration that a player may have to endure on the field hampering his performance.

Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar speaking about the new jerseys opined that having tri-colour on outfit is something special and the Indian cricket team is proud to wear these colours.

"Blue is one of my favourite colours. I like blue, most of the shades of blue and also orange, so I am quite happy with the outfit," said Tendulkar.

Indian opener Gautam Gambhir, who was also present on the occasion, said the team is keenly waiting to play an exciting series against the Kangaroos.

"Absolutely, I think whenever you play against Australia, it's always a great competition and a great challenge and you want to test yourself whenever you are playing international cricket against the best in the world," said Gambhir.

"So, hopefully, this time also I can contribute the same like we have had done in the last series as well," he added.

Virender Sehwag, Zaheer Khan, Harbhajan Singh and Pragyan Ojha were the other cricketers present on the occasion.

Meanwhile, Australian coach Tim Nielsen, while addressing the media in Mohali, said despite his squad having a couple of inexperienced players, they are all eager to prove their worth against India, presently at the top in the international Test rankings.

"There are chances, we do have some inexperienced players in our squad. Now, we have Michael Hussey and Doug Bollinger back into the team. The bowlers are experienced a little bit," said Nielsen.

He also mentioned that the Indian batting's top order spearheaded by swashbuckling opener Sehwag is a definite threat to the Aussies.

India and Australia will play their first Test match at Mohali commencing on Friday, while the second Test will be played in Bangalore on October 9.

The Aussies will take on India in One Day Internationals (ODI) beginning on October 17.
