Nadal reaches first US Open final, to face Djokovic

World No.1 Rafael Nadal remains on track for his first US Open title after booking his place in the final by defeating 12th-seeded Mikhail Youzhny.

New York, Sep 12: World No.1 Rafael Nadal remains on track for his first US Open title after booking his place in the final by defeating 12th-seeded Mikhail Youzhny.

Nadal, who has now stretched his Grand Slam winning streak to 20 matches, dominated the semi-final to win 6-2, 6-3, 6-4 in just over two hours.

The 24-year-old will now get the opportunity to become only the seventh man to complete the set of major titles - Wimbledon, the French, Australian and US Opens.

"For me, is a dream. I'm going to play for the first time in the final here, in the biggest center court in the world," The New York Daily News quoted Nadal, as saying.

Youzhny had beaten Nadal in four of their previous 11 meetings, but he looked tired after needing five sets to get past Stanislas Wawrinka in the quarterfinals.

Nadal will play Novak Djokovic in Sunday's final after the Serbian third seed beat World No. 2 Roger Federer in five sets.
