Ojha kept me guessing with his bowling in Hyderabad Test: Guptill

November 14, 2010 - Hyderabad

New Zealand batsman Martin Guptill has said he found left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha an interesting proposition during the first innings of the ongoing Hyderabad Test against India.

Guptill was trapped leg before wicket by Ojha in the innings in which he scored 85 off 203 balls.

"When he bowled around the wicket he kept me guessing. When he came over the wicket it was easier to knock it around the leg side for one," quoted Guptill, as saying.

"But when he went around the wicket I really had to knuckle down and watch the ball hard," he added.

Discipline was a feature of the New Zealand batting effort on the Friday, highlighted best by Guptill and opening batsman Tim McIntosh.

Guptill along with McIntosh (102) shared a 147 run second-wicket partnership to build a solid platform for the Black Caps, who went on to post a total of 350.

"There was no set plan for the pace of the innings and there were times we had to knuckle down. We had to play out a few maidens but when they bowled a loose ball we put it away," Guptill said.
