Indian boxers to fight for gold on Day 10 of CWG
With 29 gold medals at stake on the tenth day of the XIXth Commonwealth Games, Indian boxers Suranjoy Singh, Manoj Kumar and Paramjeet Samota will fight for gold medals in their respective finals. ANI

India remained firm on the second position on Day-9, as Indian women helped it keep its head held high by winning a historic Gold medal in the womens 4x400m relay in the evening following the shooters Annuraj Singh and Heena Sidhu who did the country proud by winning Gold in the morning here on Tuesday at the Commonwealth Games. Indian tennis ace Mahesh Bhupathi has said that India have bright prospects in the forthcoming Commonwealth Games.


Kolkata, May 7 : Indian tennis ace Mahesh Bhupathi has said that India have bright prospects in the forthcoming Commonwealth Games.

Talking to reporters here on Thursday, Bhupathi said: "India have bright prospects in the Games and players have begun preparing for the upcoming sporting extravaganza to be held in New Delhi."

"I think it's exciting for all of us the fact that Commonwealth Games is in India. So we are all excited. Obviously we want to win as many medals as we possibly can and still a few months away, so everyone is getting prepared," he added.

He also said that India has bright future with players like Somdev Devvarman and Yuki Bhambri.

" For a long time India made the world group in Davis Cup after many, many years. So I think things are moving in the right direction. Hopefully, Somdev can break into top 100. I know he is very close now. So we have got a very solid doubles team that will continue for a while. So I think things are looking good," added Bhupathi.

New Delhi is preparing to host over 100,000 foreign visitors during the Commonwealth Games to be held on October 3-14 this year.
