Tendulkars blood used to prepare special edition of his biography

A luxury book publisher has said that it would bring out a special edition of Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkars biography with its signature page mixed with the batsmans blood.

London, July 20: A luxury book publisher has said that it would bring out a special edition of Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar's biography with its signature page mixed with the batsman's blood.

The "blood edition" of the Tendulkar Opus, costing 75,000 dollars, would include unpublished family pictures and the legend's thoughts about his career.

"The signature page will be mixed with Sachin's blood - mixed into the paper pulp so it's a red resin. It is what it is - you will have Sachin's blood on the page," The Guardian quoted Karl Fowler, publisher Kraken Media's chief executive, as saying.

"It's not everyone's cup of tea, it's not to everyone's taste and some may think it's a bit weird, but the key thing here is that Sachin Tendulkar to millions of people is a religious icon," he added.

The book weighs 37 kilograms, measures half a metre and has 852 pages edged in gold leaf.

Only 10 copies are being printed and they have all already been pre-ordered. It is expected to be released in February 2011.

All proceeds from the sale of the 10 copies will go to Tendulkar's charitable foundation to help build a school in Mumbai.
