Betting scandal could affect Pak side during upcoming New Zealand tour

The betting scandal charge levelled against four Pakistani cricketers could in all probability dent the composition of the side for their next tour of New Zealand later in the year.

Wellington, Aug 31 : The betting scandal charge levelled against four Pakistani cricketers could in all probability dent the composition of the side for their next tour of New Zealand later in the year.

The allegations of spot fixing which emerged during the fourth test against England at the weekend have thrown a dark shadow over Pakistani cricket, reports the New Zealand Herald.

New Zealand Cricket CEO Justin Vaughan, however, said it was too soon to speculate on how the tour to New Zealand would pan out.akistan play three T20s, two tests and six ODIs during their New Zealand tour.

Vaughan said it would be better to wait and watch the International Cricket Council deliberations.

"A lot of it is hypothetical. We need to get this current matter dealt with quickly, so we know what we are dealing with," said Vaughan.

"There will be certain scenarios which would be concerning. Until we get a conclusion out of the investigations that are ongoing, uncertainty is the worst place to be sitting in all this," he added.

The three players squarely in the ICC sights over the no-ball scandal are captain Salman Butt and fast-bowlers Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Aamir. Their ouster from the team will surely affect the composition of the Pakistani side.
