Inzaman, seven other Pak ICL players offered American Premier League stint

Following Mohammad Yousufs terminating his contract with the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL) another Pakistan player, Inzamam-ul-Haq, is reportedly planning to join an American league.

Lahore, Mar.27 : Following Mohammad Yousuf's terminating his contract with the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL) another Pakistan player, Inzamam-ul-Haq, is reportedly planning to join an American league.

Inzamam has confirmed that he and seven other Lahore Badshah players have received an invitation from US based entrepreneur Jay Mir in this context.

Mir, CEO of American Sports And Entertainment Group Inc, has chalked out a six team American Premier League (APL) to be held in October in Staten Island on a baseball converted cricket field.

"He (Mir) has made an offer to us, but we have a contract with the ICL, and if our ICL contract allows us, then we will sign with the APL," The Daily Times quoted Inzamam, as saying.

"It is not an official tournament because it is not ICC-recommended. If there is a contracted player, they may have a problem, but ICL players should be free to sign," he added.

Mir hopes to develop the APL on the lines of the famous Indian Premier League (IPL) with the same franchise and auction system, and build up six teams namely Premium Pakistan, Premium Indians, Premium West Indies, Premium World and Premium America.

The Pakistan player wish list of Mir also includes names of Imran Nazir, Imran Farhat, and also Mohammad Asif, who is currently facing a ban from international cricket on charges of drug smuggling. He was detained at the Dubai Airport last year.

Asif has also been barred by the Indian Premier League (IPL) for taking performance enhancing drugs during the league's first season.
