Younis to play in domestic T20 tournament

In a change of heart, senior batsman Younis Khan has said that he will be available for the National Twenty20 championship and the four-nation tournament in Toronto before joining South Australia for the Sheffield Shield.

Karachi, Sep 20 : In a change of heart, senior batsman Younis Khan has said that he will be available for the National Twenty20 championship and the four-nation tournament in Toronto before joining South Australia for the Sheffield Shield.

Younis will miss South Australia's first Sheffield Shield match on October 12, but would be available for them for the remaining season unless required for national duty.

He will leave for Australia from Toronto where Pakistan plays Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe and Canada in a four nation tournament from October 10-14.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has made it clear that only those players would be considered for the tournament in Toronto who played in the domestic championship to be played in Lahore from October 4 to 8, The News reported.

"I think the domestic T20 competition is an important event for us as is the one in Toronto so I have decided to play them before going to Australia," Younis said.

A board official said Younis' name was not released by his region after he had informed them he would not be available, but Peshawar team officials have now informed the board that he is playing for them in the National Twenty20 tournament.
