Manchester Police have given England and Manchester United star Wayne Rooney time till Monday to apologise to a photographer he allegedly spat at.
London, Sept.20 : Manchester Police have given England and Manchester United star Wayne Rooney time till Monday to apologise to a photographer he allegedly spat at.
If Rooney refuses to do so, he will be asked to appear in court, they said.Cops have given the Manchester United ace until Monday to decide following an incident outside a restaurant.
They also said that Rooney, 22, would still be arrested and cautioned for common assault even after apologizing to snapper Lee Simmons, 21.But if he rejects the police proposal he will be charged and appear in front of magistrates.
Rooney allegedly spat on Simmons's back as he left the Michelin-starred Hakassan Chinese restaurant with wife Coleen in central London in July.
The next day cops quizzed the England star, who denied the offence.
But saliva on the snapper's clothing is said to match Rooney's DNA.
The 31 million pound striker is in London with United this weekend for their match with Chelsea.
