By offering them such tempting eateries, the Croatians are hoping that the team will become too fat to perform.

Supporters in the Balkan state have learnt that the manager of England players Fabio Capello has banned them from having junk food.

Capello has been trying to build a super-fit team for the 2010 campaign - but his stars are reported to crave their pastries and other treats.

Now, some fans are reportedly smuggling biscuits and crisps onto the training ground in kit bags.

Fans in Zagreb are tempting the England camp by sending boxes of cakes, burgers and pizza to the team's five-star hotel.

"I have a friend who works in room service there and he will make sure they never go hungry. England's players are soft and greedy," the Daily Star quoted one fan, Goran Cackovic, as saying.

"If they worried less about their stomachs they might be hungrier on the pitch," Cackovic added.
