Sourav Ganguly decides to retire after Australia series

Indias former captain Sourav Ganguly said today that, at the end of the upcoming four-Test series against Australia, he would retire from international cricket.

New Delhi, Oct 7 : India's former captain Sourav Ganguly said today that, at the end of the upcoming four-Test series against Australia, he would retire from international cricket.

Ganguly said, "I have decided to quit and told my team mates about it. Australia series will be my last series."

K Srikkanth, chairman of selectors, said that Ganguly had made the right decision.

Srikkanth said, "Ganguly wanted to play with a free mind and now he can."

Ganguly has been India's most successful cricket captain.

While answering to a question that the selectors had made a compromise with his selection in the team, Ganguly replied 'absolutely not'.

He also dismissed suggestions that his inclusion in India's 15-member squad for the first two Tests against Australia was part of a compromise formula to give him the opportunity to retire gracefully.
