Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo got the brush-off from a Colombian soap star who thought that the Manchester United ace was gay.

London, Oct 6 : Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo got the brush-off from a Colombian soap star who thought that the Manchester United ace was gay.

Ronaldo had begged Elisa Sanchez for a date and even tried out his famous winking trick on her, but unfortunately for him, she could not understand his English.

The efforts of the winger were lost on the girl, who after seeing the star with his perma-tanned skin and skimpy bathing shorts, jumped to the conclusion that he was gay.

"He was really red, like he had been laying out in the sun too long, and kept putting oil on himself all the time," the Sun quoted her as saying.

"He was wearing these tiny little swimming pants. The way he was preening himself was hilarious.

"I had absolutely no idea who he was - and we were all convinced he was gay.

"He winked at me and tried to chat me up but I don't speak English well. o I just said 'Sorry' and walked away," she added.

Sanchez, who was one of many girls Ronaldo made a play for during his pre-season break in LA, came to know who he was only after she saw a United match on TV.
