Shimla, May 12:People in Himachal Pradesh's Sirmaur District, including dhabawalas, restaurant owners and others are looking forward to the visit of Daleep Singh Rana alias Great Khali, who has earned global acclaim as a World Wrestling Federation (WWF)wrestler.

Locals are desperate to catch a glimpse of the Great Khali, who has rocked both the nation and foreigners with his debut victory over the Mighty Undertaker.

The Giri family has played a major role in facilitating Khali's rise by bringing him from the remote town of Rohru and employing him as a bodyguard. Dalip served the Giri family for over three years before seeking his fortunes abroad The family still stays in touch with the Great Khali.

"Of course, it would be a wonderful thing if he comes to Shimla, and most of the people in Shimla know him. Some of them are his good friends. They are expecting him to be here soon," said Ravi Giri, a resident.

The distance between the state capital Shimla and Rohru is 120 kilometers, and both places are eagerly awaiting the wrestling giant.

"He has come to India and will be coming to Himachal. He has made the name of Himachal reach out to the world. The people of Himachal and the government here could not have asked for more. We want to meet him. Everyone wants to meet him, and even he can do a lot for Himachal and the children of the place today," said Deepak, the owner Deepak Bhojnalaya in Shimla.

"His feet were so long that everyone refused to make footwear for him, but then, when I got to know him, I prepared it for him willingly. We shared a very good rapport. I would like to meet him and will be very happy," recalled Roshan Singh, a cobbler and a known fan of the Great Khali.

Though the Great Khali is yet to come here, locals still recall his sharpness and strength as a labourer at the local bus stand at Rohru in 1991-1992.
