Becks says he wants to play on

England striker David Beckham is insisting that he will not retire from international football his teams loss to France in a friendly in Paris on Wednesday.

London, Mar.27 : England striker David Beckham is insisting that he will not retire from international football his team's loss to France in a friendly in Paris on Wednesday.

"I don't know where the rumours about quitting came from - but it certainly wasn't from me. It's 100 not out. Not yet anyway. I'm very proud and very honoured because reaching 100 caps doesn't happen every day. It's every footballer's dream to get one cap for their country, let alone 100," The Sun quoted him, as saying.

"I was happy to start the game tonight, but I just wanted to get that cap. It was all about getting on the pitch and getting that cap," he added.

Becks was subbed on 63 minutes and received a standing ovation from both sets of fans as he left the field.

He added: "My parents were here and my nan and grandad were watching back home. I also had my wife and sons here.

Becks looked lean and fit during the game and, while disappointed with the result, insisted that new boss Fabio Capello is the man to make England great again.
