Melbourne, Mar.25 : Australian paceman Stuart Clark fears that the ICC's crackdown on sledging could make the game of cricket "very boring".
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced a "zero tolerance" crackdown on offensive language and gestures in the sport.
As part of their campaign, the ICC sent a letter to international match officials, captains and chief executives calling for support in their decision to outlaw personal attacks which are "obscene, offensive or insulting".
"It's going to be a hard one to police because there are going to be times where people are going to be talking and it's going to be misconstrued or taken the wrong way," he said on Sydney radio station 2KY.
"It (sledging) has been part of the game for so long now. How are we going to remove something that has been so much part of the game and then turn it into ... Put it this way. It's going to be very boring for six hours if you can't talk to one another and can't do anything like that. What is a sledge and what's not a sledge is my big question there?" Clark said he fully supported eradicating racial remarks from the game, but said the new rule could open the door for players to make a series of complaints against each other.
