In a comment that may irk many people in the Bollywood industry, upcoming cricketer S.Sreesanth has remarked that it was Bollywood actresses who run after Indian cricketers and not vice-versa.
New Delhi, March 20 : In a comment that may irk many people in the Bollywood industry, upcoming cricketer S.Sreesanth has remarked that it was Bollywood actresses who run after Indian cricketers and not vice-versa.
Shanthakumaran Sreesanth was recently in news a fortnight ago over his reported relation with Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra though he clarified on Wednesday during a function that they shared a friendly relation between them and nothing else beyond it.
But when asked about Indian cricketers' growing fancy for Bollywood actresses, he said: "Cricketers are not chasing Bollywood actresses. In fact, Bollywood heroines are running behind us."
Speaking about the gossip over his 'relation' with Priyanka, he said: "I wouldn't want to comment much on it and if you are pointing at me then I would say that it was just an ad (Unilever's group). It was really funny and does not matter to me. As long as I am single I do not have to run behind Bollywood actresses."
However, Sreesanth quipped: "I do not know if actresses fall for me. If they fall so much for me then I won't be able to play cricket because I have to follow the ICC codes too. You need to wait for three to four months at least. I was kidding about the statement I made inside. Bollywood is famous. So is cricket. I think it is a marketing trend. I do not know about other cricketers. Mine was just an ad campaign and we are just good friends," added Sreesanth.
Actually, the 'affair' happened to be a publicity gimmick mooted by the advertising consultants of India's major MNC Hindustan Unilever for which both Sreesanth and Priyanka were the celebrities to launch a new range of toilet soaps.
Sreesanth was felicitated by Luminous Power Technologies, a power and energy storage company, on Wednesday in the national capital and presented the Luminous Ghar Ka Chirag award that also carried a cash award worth 1,000 sterling pounds.
