PCB keen for Yousuf to play in IPL

Despite legal hassles with the rebel Indian Cricket League, senior Pakistan batsman Mohammad Yousuf may get a chance to play in officially recognised Indian Premier League, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said on Friday.

Lahore, Mar 15 : Despite legal hassles with the rebel Indian Cricket League, senior Pakistan batsman Mohammad Yousuf may get a chance to play in officially recognised Indian Premier League, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said on Friday.

Yousuf is reportedly unhappy with the PCB and Indian cricket officials for not doing enough to ensure his selection in one of the eight IPL franchises ahead of the Twenty20 tournament that begins on April 18 this year.

"He was available for the teams bidding for the players in the Indian Premier League (IPL) auctions two times. But no team bid for him,"

A case has been filed with an arbitration panel in Mumbai against Yousuf for breach of contract. This has been a factor in IPL franchises not bidding for them.

The arbitration panel headed by a former judge has restrained Yousuf from signing up with the IPL until the case is decided.

To consider an application for the removal of the stay order against the senior batsman, the arbitration panel will meet again on March 29.
