Melbourne, Mar.15 : Retired Australian cricketer Adam Gilchrist has told the television channel Nine that he would be happy to appear in occasional specials or entertainment programs, including a revived Wide World of Sports.

After 10 years of full-time cricket, the keeping legend is keen to spend more time with his wife Melinda and kids Annie, Harrison and Archie, Fox Sports said.

The aggressive left-handed batsman and record-breaking wicket-keeper retired from international at the end of the Commonwealth Bank tri-series that involved contests with Sri Lanka and India. Australia eventually lost the series to India 2-0 in a best of three finals.

While being a member of the Australian cricket team from 1998 to 2008, Gilchrist redefined the role of a wicket-keeper-batsman, emerging as the best in the history of the game.

He holds the world record for the most dismissals by a wicketkeeper in One Day International cricket and the most by an Australian in Test cricket. His strike rate is amongst the highest in the history of both One-day and Test cricket and he currently holds the record for the second fastest century in Test match cricket.
