Faced with a warning from the International Cricket Council (ICC) for sub-standard pitches, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to conduct a first of its kind course for curators in order to help them in preparing sporting tracks in the country.
Rajkot, June 9 : Faced with a warning from the International Cricket Council (ICC) for sub-standard pitches, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to conduct a first of its kind course for curators in order to help them in preparing sporting tracks in the country.
"There is no such course for curators in the world so far. So, the curriculum has to be prepared first. After taking help from the experts, we will organise curator's course. There will be a book, a practical exam, a practical seminar and a competition will be done," said Niranjan Shah, BCCI Secretary.
The ICC in May issued an official warning to the Board over the use of sub-standard pitch for final test against South Africa at Kanpur in April.
The ICC sought an explanation from the Board after match referee Roshan Mahanama reported that the pitch was not up to the test-match standards.
The ICC has the power to impose a fine or even suspend the international status of the venue in case of repeated offences.
The Board had promised to improve the pitch after receiving the warning in April.
