Manchester United officials have rubbished rumours of Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo moving to Real Madrid, describing the claim as laughable nonsense.

London, July 5 : Manchester United officials have rubbished rumours of Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo moving to Real Madrid, describing the claim as "laughable nonsense".

United has expressed outrage over the Spanish paper Marca, the official mouthpiece of Real, saying that the deal is imminent. The paper claimed Real had offered 70-million pounds and United wanted 83 million pounds.

But a United spokesman said: "There is not a shred of truth in it. This is laughable nonsense and to be quite honest we are getting fed up with it. We are not entering into any discussions with anyone about selling Cristiano Ronaldo. Quite simply Cristiano Ronaldo is not for sale and that is that."

All United were concentrating on yesterday with regards to Ronaldo was arranging an ankle operation for the player. He is expected to go for it next week, and be out of action for two months.
