Team, not individual responsible for loss against Proteas: Flintoff

England all-rounder Andrew `Freddie Flintoff has said that the defeat against the South Africans in the second Test at Leeds should not be placed on one person, but rather on the whole team.

London, July 24 : England all-rounder Andrew `Freddie' Flintoff has said that the defeat against the South Africans in the second Test at Leeds should not be placed on one person, but rather on the whole team.

Reacting to skipper Michael Vaughan's view of a lack of team unity leading to the defeat, Flintoff said he was having none of it.

"I thought the team spirit was fine, although I've not been around for a while so I'm not sure what to compare it to having been out for 18 months," The Mirror quoted Flintoff, as saying.

"But I don't think that should affect anybody else's individual game. With it being my first Test match in 18 months I don't think there would be too many things distracting me from performing on the field," he added.

Flintoff scored 55 runs and took a wicket for 77 runs from his 40 overs in the Test.

The all-rounder is keen to improve his performances in the next two back-to-back Tests.
