Lahore, Jan 5 : Former Pakistan openers Imran Farhat and Taufiq Umar have jointly filed a petition against the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for banning them from participating in the domestic circuit.
The PCB banned Imran and Taufiq last month after they returned from India after playing in the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL), which is not recognised by the International Cricket Council and its member boards.
"We have filed the petition in the Lahore High Court and our plea would be heard on Monday," Imran said.
He said that he had asked the court to declare the board' action, which also excludes them from national team selection, as unconstitutional.
It is pertinent to mention that the board had amended a clause in their domestic cricket regulations to impose its suspension on Imran, Taufiq and others, including former Test captain Inzamamul Haq, who played in the ICL.
"This is the only way available to us to fight this unjust action of the board," the Daily Times quoted Imran, as saying.
" We are not part of the PCB's contracted players. Cricket is our livelihood and the board is depriving us of our right of trade," he added.
Imran has appeared in 27 Tests and 33 one-day internationals and Taufiq in 25 Tests and 19 ODIs.
