London, Jan 26 : In an online poll 65 per cent of voters urged Shane Warne to come out of retirement, and asked Cricket Australia to fast-track Warne's coaching career in a bid to solve a spinning "crisis".

Australia on Friday experienced for the first time what life will really be like without the retired spin king when India (526) grabbed control of the fourth Test in Adelaide.

Former Test batsman Darren Lehmann said Warne was the only man capable of averting a potential spin crisis.

"What today does is highlight the need for Shane Warne to be brought in by Cricket Australia at the grassroots level to find our next spin champion," he said.

"He must be brought in now to avert a crisis. He is the only man who can do this," the Daily Telegraph quoted Lehmann, as saying.

Warne produced one of the greatest performances of his career in Adelaide last summer when he bowled Australia to a stunning Ashes victory.

Warne was sorely missed on Friday, but Cricket Australia is hopeful he will unearth a new generation of talent when his official coaching stint - alongside former coach John Buchanan - begins this year.

Adam Gilchrist said that it was only natural Australia would miss the legendary pair of Warne and Glenn McGrath.

"They are legends. You are going to miss them but the guys that have come in have really good intentions," he said.
