Keen to encourage young sporting talents from rural areas, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has announced plans to organise a two-month-long cricket tournament in his Amethi constituency.
Amethi, Feb.4 : Keen to encourage young sporting talents from rural areas, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has announced plans to organise a two-month-long cricket tournament in his Amethi constituency.
The Rajiv Gandhi Cricket Tournament will get underway from Tuesday. It will feature 1,200 teams from 726 village panchayats of Amethi.
The winners will receive a cash prize of Rs. three lakh.
Rahul Gandhi will be the chief guest in the tournament finals, which is scheduled to be held in the B R Ambedkar Stadium.
