Former World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev has come out in favour of experienced batsmen that were dropped for the ongoing triangular series in Australia, which also includes Sri Lanka.

Siliguri, Feb 3 : Former World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev has come out in favour of experienced batsmen that were dropped for the ongoing triangular series in Australia, which also includes Sri Lanka.

"We should respect the people who served the country for last ten years or more than that with more dignity," Dev said.

India has dropped Sourav Ganguly from 16-member ODI squad for the ongoing tri-nation Commonwealth Bank Series. Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman were not recalled for the tournament.

Gautam Gambhir, who has cracked three centuries in the Ranji Trophy, Suresh Raina, Praveen Kumar and Dinesh Karthik were included in the team.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni (captain and wicket-keeper), Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh, Virender Sehwag, Dinesh Karthik, Robin Uthappa, Gautam Gambhir, Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, Irfan Pathan, Praveen Kumar, RP Singh, Ishant Sharma, Sreesanth, Harbhajan Singh and Piyush Chawla.
