PCB says India ODI tour of Pak postponed, not cancelled

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has said that the Indian cricket teams one-day tour of Pakistan has been postponed and not cancelled.

Lahore, Feb.25 : The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has said that the Indian cricket team's one-day tour of Pakistan has been postponed and not cancelled.

Reacting to media reports that the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) has refused to tour Pakistan to play a short one-day international series next month, the PCB said in a press release on Sunday that the proposed tour has been 'postponed'.

The PCB had proposed to the BCCI the three-match ODI series, not part of the Future Tours Programme (FTP), before the commencement of the Australia's tour that is in danger due to security concerns.

According to The News, BCCI president Sharad Pawar has told PCB chairman Nasim Ashraf that despite the Indian cricket board's keenness for this tour to take place, due to the fatigue of the Indian players who have been playing non-stop international cricket for the last three months and the very short interval between the end of India's tour to Australia and their next commitment against South Africa at home starting on March 20, it is practically impossible to squeeze in a short tour to Pakistan at this time."

The release added India, however, promised to find time to play the short series any time before the Champions Trophy in September 2008.
