Yousuf will definitely play for IPL: PCB

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has said that there are no doubts about batsman Mohammad Yousufs participation in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Lahore, Feb 22 : The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has said that there are no doubts about batsman Mohammad Yousuf's participation in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

According to the PCB's Media Director, Ahsan Hameed Malik, Yousuf has been offered 350,000 dollars by IPL organisers.

He also denied reports that no one had bid for Yousuf at the IPL auction on Wednesday. Malik said many other cricketers of the world did not receive any bid. So, its IPL's responsibility to adjust them in different teams.

"Though no one came forward to bid for Yousuf, like many other international cricketers, the IPL has fixed 350,000 dollars as the starting bid for him, which he will get from the authorities," the Dawn quoted Malik as saying.

Yousuf said he had also heard about receiving a minimum of 350,000 dollars from IPL organisers.

He rejected reports that he had turned down the PCB's request for taking part in the bidding process on religious grounds.

"No, there is no such intention at my level and such reports are totally baseless," he said.

Yousuf has been involved in a controversy since he backed out of an Indian Cricket League (ICL) contract to join the PCB-backed IPL. The ICL has threatened legal proceedings against Yousuf and IPL, saying Yousuf should not be allowed to play.

The other Pakistani players in the IPL bid included Shoaib Akhtar, Shahid Afridi, Younis Khan, Shoaib Malik, Sohail Tanvir, Umar Gul, Kamran Akmal.
