London, Feb.22 : Girls Aloud star Cheryl Cole was branded "a fool" on Thursday night for reportedly forgiving love-rat hubby Ashley.

Cheryl's friends blasted the singer after she stayed the night with him at their marital home and considered forgiving him.

Friends and family are staunchly against her getting back with the England and Chelsea ace.

The Sun quoted one of her friends as saying last night: "Cheryl is close to taking Ashley back. She's a bloody fool for even considering it, but she doesn't care about that. He's told her he's a changed man, and she's either completely blind to his lies or genuinely believes it." Until Wednesday, Cheryl, 24, had not seen Ashley, 27, since The Sun revealed he bedded blonde hairdresser Aimee Walton, 22 - then offered her cash for an abortion.

A friend said: "Cheryl has been away from home for weeks and needed to pick up clean clothes and see her dogs.

"She didn't plan to stay, but Ashley convinced her they needed time together to talk.

"She slept in a separate part of the house from Ashley.

"He is already telling people he's won her back. All of her friends think she's nuts - but she loves the man and can't see a future without him."

Cheryl left Wednesday night's Brit Awards as soon as she heard Girls Aloud had not won the Best Group gong.

She was driven to the mansion in Oxshott, Surrey, where Ashley was waiting.

He pleaded to save their 18-month marriage during crisis talks at a London hotel before the Brits.
