London, Feb 13 : Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has been fined 8,000 pounds by club boss Sir Alex Ferguson - for constantly sending text messages during training.
The winger was caught sending messages four times during a single session and Fergie was not impressed, a United source revealed.
"The players all respect Sir Alex's discipline. He is not a man to be messed with," The Sun quoted the source, as saying.
"But a few of the players have been sneaking their mobile phones on to the training pitch to send the odd text message between sessions.
"Fergie and his assistants have been cracking down on it big time recently. They insist that mobiles stay in lockers and should not be used until training is finished."
Sir Alex, 66, has been tightening the screw on players not completely focused during the club's midweek preparation.
And that includes hitting them with on-the-spot 2,000 pound penalties for every offence.
