Indians arrive in Canberra to take on Sri Lanka

The Indian cricket team arrived in Canberra today to take on Sri Lanka in the fifth match of the Commonwealth Bank one-day series on Tuesday at the Manuka Oval Ground.

Sydney, Feb.11 : The Indian cricket team arrived in Canberra today to take on Sri Lanka in the fifth match of the Commonwealth Bank one-day series on Tuesday at the Manuka Oval Ground.

Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene said that the challenge for the Indian team after its win against Australia would be to try to be consistent over a period of time.

"They are playing some very good cricket, there's no doubt about that," the Sydney Morning Herald quoted Jayawardene, as saying.

He also said that Australia's crown as one-day cricket kings is starting to slip.

Jayawardene said India's five-wicket win over Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Sunday night had not only opened up the tri-series competition, but provided another example of the chinks developing in the armour of Ricky Ponting's side.

India are at the top of the tri-series standings on eight points from three games, one point ahead of Australia (7), with Sri Lanka on two points and desperately needing a win on Tuesday at Manuka Oval against India.

"We just need to make sure that we give our best shot tomorrow and make this tournament much more interesting than what it is," Jayawardene said.

"Australia are not dominating world cricket at the moment. I think the rest of the world is catching up to them, especially in one-day cricket," he added.

Sri Lanka has shared equal points in its match against India and lost to Australia by 128 runs.

Jayawardene says the World Cup finalists need to show more application if they want to make a mark in the Commonwealth Bank one-day series.
