Selectors rest Ishant, recall Tendulkar, Dhoni, Harbhajan for ODI series against Lanka

The national selection committee of the Board of Cricket Control of India (BCCI) on Thursday rested pacer Ishant Sharma from the 16-member Indian squad for the five-match one-day International (ODI) series against Sri Lanka.

Mumbai, Aug 7 : The national selection committee of the Board of Cricket Control of India (BCCI) on Thursday rested pacer Ishant Sharma from the 16-member Indian squad for the five-match one-day International (ODI) series against Sri Lanka.

ODI skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar and off-spinner Harbhajan Singh were brought back into the team.

The five-member panel of the National Selection Committee of the BCCI, which met here today, replaced Ishant with Munaf Patel under BCCI's the rotation policy. They also dropped S Sreesanth and middle order batsman Robin Uthappa while giving chance to Delhi's Virat Kohli to make his international debut in the series, starting August 18.

After completing the ongoing three-Test series, the team will play five ODIs from August 18 to 29 in the Emerald Isles.

A 15-member team for next month's Champions Trophy in Pakistan was also named today. The teams announced for the two events are otherwise the same except for Parthiv Patel being left out of the squad for Champions Trophy.Squads for:DI series against Sri Lanka: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (captain), Yuvraj Singh (vice-captain), Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh, Virat Kohli, Zaheer Khan, Praveen Kumar, RP Singh, Pragyan Ojha, Irfan Pathan, Parthiv Patel, Munaf Patel.
