Hayden ruled out of ODI series against Bangladesh

Australias opening batsman Matthew Hayden has been ruled out of one-day series against Bangladesh starting on Saturday in Darwin.

Melbourne, Aug 25 : Australia's opening batsman Matthew Hayden has been ruled out of one-day series against Bangladesh starting on Saturday in Darwin.

A decision was made by Australia's team medical staff to spare the prolific run-getter to help him recover from his achilles tendon injury, The Age reported.

Hayden will continue rehab in Brisbane with the goal of being fit for Australia's next major cricket assignment, a four-Test series against India.

The Australian team assembled in Brisbane at Allan Border Field for a two-day camp before heading to Darwin.

Michael Clarke will take over the captaincy reins in his first full series after deputising a number of times in Ricky Ponting's absence.

Clarke said it was a relief that the ICC had finally made a decision overnight to postpone the Champions Trophy, which was to be played in troubled Pakistan.
