The central government has decided not to levy tax on the cash awards being awarded to medal winners at the Beijing Olympics.
New Delhi, Aug. 22 : The central government has decided not to levy tax on the cash awards being awarded to medal winners at the Beijing Olympics.
Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Priyaranajan Dasmunsi, disclosed it here after the Cabinet meet on Thursday.
"Though P. Chidambaram is the right person to ask any question but I feel they must get complete money," said Priyaranjan Dasmunsi, Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting.
Reportedly, it was Dasmunsi who had floated this idea of giving away the entire prize money.
ANI
