Match gambling row besets ManU

Manchester United has been plunged into a match gambling row.

London, Apr.30 : Manchester United has been plunged into a match gambling row.

According to The Sun, three of the team's French international stars - Patrice Evra, Louis Saha and Mikael Silvestre -- made bets with ManU boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

They were gambling on the outcome of the France v Scotland games in the Euro 2008 qualifying campaign.

The Football Association does not allow any player, coach or official from gambling on matches in which they are involved.

Scot Sir Alex would not have broken any rules by betting with France players. Only Saha took part in Scotland v France at Hampden Park in Glasgow. Evra was in the squad but did not play and Silvestre was not in the squad for either game.

The FA has confirmed that it will investigate the revelations made by United's Scotland midfielder Darren Fletcher in a magazine.
